CORROBOREE CELEBRATION

$235.00

I was inspired by the event in Parliament House Canberra where the Prime Minister said “Sorry” to Indigenous people for the stolen generation. It was 13 February 2008. This abstract work shows the body painting, with red and yellow ochres, of Aborigines for a corroboree or brun. They are dancing to celebrate victory over injustice. The Aboriginal flag is centre painting. There is a sense of movement and joy in the work. All people can play a role in bringing justice, freedom and reconciliation to our nation of Australia.
